The Circle of Security is a program designed to support and enhance the quality of caregiver-child relationships and bonding. It is primarily rooted in attachment theory, which emphasizes the importance of a secure and stable relationship between parents (or primary caregivers) and their children.
The program works by helping parents and caregivers understand their children's emotional world, by teaching them to read emotional needs, support their children's ability to successfully manage emotions, and enhance the development of their child's self-esteem.
The Circle of Security framework aids caregivers in interpreting their child's behaviours in a way that enhances their ability to meet the child's needs.
