FREE Mental Wellness Community Resource Fair on May 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m.

Join us for an evening dedicated to exploring the complex issue of self-harm among children and adolescents. This event, hosted by Healthy Minds Youth Wellness Alliance (HMYWA), aims to enhance awareness of mental health challenges and to explore ways to support young individuals navigating these issues. Opening Remarks:


The event will begin with opening remarks from Sherry Gott, the dedicated Manitoba Advocate for Children and Youth.


Expert Presentation:


Dr. Lindsay Woods, C. Psych will lead a pivotal information session covering crucial topics, such as the causes and prevalence of self-harm and offer valuable strategies and resources for assistance.


Community Resource Fair:


Following the informative session, attendees are invited to explore a community resource fair. This segment of the evening will spotlight local agencies and resources committed to promoting mental health wellbeing, offering a platform for attendees to engage with support services directly.

The HMYWA is proud to make available resources, including access to peer mentors and counsellors, for those in need of additional support to debrief the information.

About Dr. Lindsay Woods, C. Psych


Dr. Woods is a distinguished Registered Clinical Psychologist and the current Director of Clinical Services at the Multidisciplinary Assessment and Consultation Centre (MACC). Her career with New Directions began in 2015, initially serving as a Clinical Administrator before rising to become the Manager of Clinical Supports and finally assuming her current leadership role.

Expert in various psychotherapy models including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Dr. Woods adopts a client-centred and strength-focused approach. Her specialty lies in working with a diverse client base—adults, adolescents, children, and families—particularly in managing anxiety disorders and utilizing DBT to enhance coping strategies, mindfulness, and interpersonal skills.

Of notable mention is Dr. Woods’ Indigenous background, which infuses a cultural perspective into her work, especially in her commitment to youth at risk of suicide and self-harm. Her proficiency in DBT, vital for treating self-harm, underscores her as a key figure in her field, dedicated to promoting healing and resilience.
